My Review

Arthy S. L.'s Fate or Destiny surprised me with its Indian romance fantasy and a beautiful tour of Andaman. The story's suspense is so engrossed that it compels you to sit still in one place.

Kavin is a tourist guide living in the Andaman Islands with his younger brother, Kiran. The past trauma had left an effect on him in the forms of parasomnia and aquaphobia. A goat that lives in his fantasy leads him to his destiny. One encounter with four girls leaves him with the perplexing impression that Kavin knew them before. When one of the girls in the group awakens new emotions in him, he makes a wrong decision that causes havoc in his life. This time, only one right decision leads him to his end game.

The blurb of this book tempts me to read it. Romance and suspense dominate more than fantasy in this book. The book's intrigue and mystery drew me in and kept me turning the pages. I'd read around 80% of the book, and it wasn't even close to being finished. I was curious to know - how the author managed to finish it in only one chapter, and she saw her excellent work, which does not feel rushed, and I give one star just for this one. I had never been to the Andaman Islands before. The author provides a beautifully detailed description of the locations and beaches in the area. The book's plot flowed easily, and current or realistic events grounded it. And rest levels in this book are relaxing points. The writer has explained the basic concept of psychological terms, mental issues, and trauma-related suffering.

Kavin's characters grow in a short amount of time, while the other characters are similarly powerful but lack a rich backstory or a satisfying ending. I prefer to read small details of scenes in novels to help me imagine them, which this book lacks.

Aside from that, this novel truly amazes me with its spectacular narrative, few hilarious banter, slow romance, Indian background, suspense-building, and short length, making it an excellent one-day read.

Best Quotes of Fate or Destiny

Love is not something you plan. It happens.
The evil needn’t look gory with pointy horns; it can be disguised as all you have longed for. Resist your temptation to travel the right path. One misstep is all it takes, and remember, not everyone gets a second chance.
Shared joy is a double joy; shared sorrow is half a sorrow.
Our tragedies were different, the pain remained the same. Whether dressed or not, fire still burns.
